Camping or Glamping

Him indoors keeps threatening suggesting we go camping.

Apparently his family used to do this a lot when he was a kid, the stories he shares with me are supposed to make me want to pack up a tent, grab some marshmallows and head off in to the wilderness to ‘get back to nature’.

let's go on an adventure

But you see, stories of bags bursting open on the roof of your car as you’re speeding along the motorway to a campsite, leaving a trail of unmentionables covering window screens, sun burnt feet on the designated driver, slugs inside your tent, torrential downpours and accidentally stepping on a rabbit REALLY do not make me want to go camping.

In fact, they make me want to pack an overnight bag, book myself in to a swanky spa hotel, lock all the doors and windows and pretend the great outdoors does not exist.

Alas, I think this is one of those things that he may just win, the kids would love it and I guess I could manage roughing it for a weekend but I thought I’d make a handy list of what I’ll need hubs to buy in order for the weekend to be a success, that’s how thoughtful I am.

These are just a few of the things I’d need, obviously there’s more….fluffy socks, marshmallows, coffee, sunshine, stars, log fire, warm jumpers, chocolate, umbrella…

I must admit, the idea of the shopping trips we need to go on before we can go camping has me rather excited, perhaps camping isn’t so bad after all!

Have you been camping, what do I need to make it a ‘home away from home’?

  1. I like your picks. My boyfriend had been talking about camping with his family a lot lately. Maybe I could convince him I need a few of these things. Hah.

  2. I love camping, the teen HATES it, with a passion. Which is why we haven't been in years, however, now he's old enough to leave home with the dog, it may be possible again. I'm more of a glamper, I like my electric hook up, I even have a mini electric cooker! Xx

  3. I have never been camping and if I did, it would have to be a glamping. Loving the suggestions for all the items on your handy list!

  4. This made me laugh, my husband is always talking about camping adventures from his childhood too and the one time we have been as a family I insisted we take an electric heater as I can't abide being cold! I am all for outdoor adventures...just with a little bit of luxury thrown in too ;)
