The Simple Things ~ A Family Walk

This Easter Sunday we decided to head out on a walk, whilst nothing terribly exciting, it was lovely to get out on such a gorgeous Spring day.

As with most days, this one started at the beach, although you can’t really see his face, this photo of Ahren really amazed me, he looks like such a boy, so far removed from my baby!

The boys have this inability to actually walk, they must run everywhere.

They run, stop, run back to us then run forwards again before repeating the whole stop and return process.

Doing this they get pretty tired, and today was no different, thankfully there was a rather handy bench for an impromptu rest.

time for a rest

Ahren embraced his inner Bear Grylls and took to the woods to do whatever it is boys do in the woods.

We eventually ended up close to Holy Well, a favourite place of the boys where they get to climb rocks and explore what the tides leave behind.

TRIP TO THE BEACH 155

I love seeing how they tackle these rocks, umming and ahhhing over which way to go.

There is always lots of sliding down rocks on bums and yelling for mama and daddy to make them “fly” to the next rock when the gap is too big to jump.

A moment of reflection….maybe.

He looks so tiny.

SUNDAY EASTER WALK 303

Obviously making a tough decision as to which way to go.

Which way bro

I love that there is always so much to discover here, without even realising it the boys learn about a whole bunch of things, from coastal erosion to the fierce determination of coastal flora to thrive.

They also get to see how you can get creative with the most simple of things.

Sadly we’d misjudged the time and the tide was coming in fast so we had to head back much earlier than we’d have liked.

All in all it was a perfectly lovely day out for us all, topped off with a scrummy yummy roast dinner.

So glad the weather seems to be turning warmer and sunnier, we’re planning lots of trips out for our weekends.

  3. Stunning scenery AND photography. I know what you mean about that first photo. The same thing has happened to Aaron. It happened right before my eyes this Easter hols. All of a sudden a big boy all arms and legs. My lil boy long gone. Growth spurt to boot. We had to do an emergency clothes shop in Primark today

How funny that they both have the same name, different spelling, and we've experiencing the same thing, I almost had a sob fest when I saw him like this. x

  6. Love the pebble tower. Those rocks are massive and do make them look so small.

Lovely photos and what patients to build that tower, mine always topple sooner. It looks like a pretty perfect Easter walk to me with a bit of everything. I have to warn you it is a few years yet before they stop running everywhere! Thank you for sharing your Easter walk with me on Country Kids.
