How Does Your Garden Grow

May all your weeds be wildflowers

It’s no secret that I love wildflowers, their vibrancy, persistence and beauty never fail to make me smile.

I seem to drift more towards an unstructured garden and in recent weeks this approach has really paid off.

I love being able to snip a few flowers and bring them indoors, especially on days like this when the sun is struggling to make itself known.

The garden is doing its thing, it may look unkempt and a little wild, which is just the way I like it.

  1. Ah bringing a bit of the outside in in gorgeous, espesh on weeks like this (seriously it's like Autumn here). In contrast I've also seen people taking vases of cut flowers and putting them on their outside tables on sunny days - works both ways I guess, bottom line is 'people are happier with flowers in sight'.
We have a section of the garden that I'm not mowing at all, which is driving my husband MAD. I have thrown some wildflower seed bombs into ti and have high hopes that next year it will look awesome. Interestingly I met a woman recently who created a wildflower border in her garden, like a traditional border just full of wildflowers she planted to grow to look natural - really looked good!
Thanks for joining in sausage - nearly the summer hols which means I'll have more time to dick about in gardens and at beaches - totally using those afternoons out as summer blog fodder ;)

  3. As you know I'm a huge fan of wild flowers too. Your garden is looking gorgeous. I'm still discovering what's growing in ours but I'm so happy that it also contains so many wild flowers amongst the cultivated ones. And now off to cut some flowers to bring indoors too!

  5. Just gorgeous! I love wildflowers too, a few years ago (in our old garden) I planted hundreds of them in a empty flower bed and they were stunning! I don't have as much room in this garden but I'd love to do it again.

  7. I love the colour mix you get with wild flowers. You wouldn't normally put such combinations together but nature knows best!

  10. Oh so beautiful. My garden is more weeds than flowers. Wildflowers are my favourite and I get so much joy driving along the country lanes around my home at the moment as they are lined with such beauties!

  11. Looks beautiful, aren't the flowers so cheery. I've been bringing posies of sweet peas back from my allotment and putting them in jam jars, the smell is divine.
